Record rains lash Chandigarh, Ambala

The northern parts of the country have been recording intense rainfall activities which intensified even further in the last 24 hours. Many parts of the northern regions saw some record-breaking rainfall activity which is not seen usually.

The most affected has been the twin capital city of Chandigarh wherein massive rains of 302 mm were recorded. Moreover, the city surpassed its monthly mean of 275 mm in just about a day. Waterlogging and localized flooding were observed. This is the highest 24-hour rains for July in decades.

Similarly, the city of Ambala recorded a whopping 224 mm of rainfall, which is also a record 24-hour rain and the highest in the last ten years at least.

Today, we may see some heavy rains, by tomorrow, rainfall activity will reduce slightly but rainfall activity will still be seen. More reduction is expected after tomorrow
