Three digit rain observed over Gujarat, Sikkim and West BengalA low-pressure area, which is over Saurashtra and Kutch region has given fairly widespread rainfall over many parts of Gujarat. Some places have recorded very heavy rain. For instance, in the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Kandla received a whopping 171 mm of rainfall.

This weather system will now move in a northerly direction and result in heavy to very heavy rain over parts of West and Central Rajasthan. The system is most likely to further intensify into a well-marked low pressure area in the next 24 hours or so.

Similarly, many parts of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim have also received good Monsoon showers. In a span of 24 hours, Namchi in Sikkim received a good 109 mm of rainfall, while Darjeeling in West Bengal recorded 104.5 mm rain.

These rains were attributed to another low pressure area, which is presently over Jharkhand, Bihar and adjoining West Bengal. Heavy to very heavy rain is expected to continue over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and adjoining North Bihar for another 24 to 48 hours.
