Upcoming rains in Kerala may reduce deficiency

October 18, 2022 7:15 PM |

Kerala was the only subdivision in the Southwest Monsoon season which saw a deficit and was deficient by 14 percent. Even now, same deficiency continues now despite the fact that both the months of October and November see good rainfall activities.

Between October one and October 17, Kerala has observed a deficiency of a good 35%. However, now a wet spell is coming up for the state of Kerala and is likely to continue for long. This may reduce the deficiency to some extent.

Good showers are likely for the next three to four days. Some parts may see heavy showers as well in the state. The reason for these rains is the presence of two systems on either side of the coast. The first system is coming up over Southeast Arabian Sea off Kerala Coast. Another system is over Southwest Bay. A trough will be joining the two systems resulting in good rains over the state of Kerala.
