Kolkata weather has remained dry for the past few days. While a few spells of thunderstorms and thundershowers have been reported over the City of Joy on May 13 with 10 mm of rain, rain gods decided to take a backseat thereafter.

Weather conditions have been hot and dry with maximums settling at about 36.3 degrees which happens to be a notch above the normal levels. Not only this, the minimums were also quite high settling at about 30 degrees which is at least three degrees above the normal levels.
Residents of Kolkata have been waiting for some good rainfall activity so as to give them some relief from the prevailing weather conditions.
The good news here is that Kolkata may receive rain and thunderstorm activity today. While the intensity may not be as high, residents will enjoy those few droplets of rain. Not only this, the rainfall intensity is expected to increase tomorrow.

These Pre-Monsoon rains will be attributed to the east west trough running from North Bihar up to North Odisha across West Bengal and Jharkhand region. Along with this, a cyclonic circulation is presently over Jharkhand which will shift in close proximity of Kolkata during the next 24 hours which is rain spread and intensity is likely to increase.
