There are many stories one can find on the internet that glorifies the humanity in a dignified manner. But all those stories will fail when they hear about Sheikh Mateen Musa from Latur. It is a very well established fact that water crisis and Latur (Marathwada) have this grim yet persisting relationship.

In 2016, over 5 lakh people in the drought-hit region are already bearing the brunt of severe heatwave conditions layered with acute water scarcity. But within the deterred conditions in the state rises one man who is filling in the points where government is falling short.

Sheikh Mateen Musa has been distributing 10000 liters of water every day to 300 households for the past three months in Latur. Mateen has been drawing the water from his bore well manually and distributing it to the people who are standing in the queue with buckets and containers.

Without having any intention to gain any monetary value from this gesture, Maseen considered this as his responsibility to help the ones in need. Sheikh Maseen Musa is a high school mathematics teacher.

Temporal relief has been provided by the government by the means of water train ‘Jaldooth’ but that alone is not enough to suffice the needs of the populous. Around 60 million liters of water is needed to quench the thirst of people in the daunted region.

Check out the video by a Facebook page called ‘Voice of Ram’ that showcases the Maseen Musa’s benevolent gesture.
