Sizzling weekend ahead for Delhi-NCR, maximums to rise steeply

April 11, 2017 10:44 AM |

Summers in DelhiDelhi and the NCR region has been witnessing slightly pleasant weather conditions for quite some time now. While mornings and evenings are breezy enough for a good stroll, afternoons are not that unbearable after all.

Both maximum as well as minimum temperatures have been settling below the normal levels. Presently, the maximum at the Safdarjung observatory is settling at 34 degrees which is two notches below the normal levels. Meanwhile, minimum is settling at 20.7 degrees which is in its normal range. Similar temperatures have been recorded at the Palam observatory as well.

These weather conditions are attributed to the inflow of northwesterly winds from the Western Himalayas which are relatively cool in nature. However, now, wind pattern is likely to change in the coming days as a fresh Western Disturbance is approaching the region.

Delhi and the NCR region will observe hot weather conditions very soon as winds will be blowing from the desert state of Rajasthan which are hot in nature. These southwesterly winds will increase the mercury levels over the national capital and its adjoining areas.

Thus, around the weekend, temperatures are expected to witness a significant rise. In fact, the possibility of the maximum temperature crossing the 40-degree mark also cannot be ruled out. Thus, Delhiites must brace for the scorching summer heat during the next few days. The possibility of heatwave over these areas also cannot be ruled out.
