Mumbai rains to pick up slight pace for a few days

September 7, 2023 3:44 PM |

The city of Mumbai has not had the best Monsoon month as far as August is concerned. Both June and July were rainy months with the city recording way over 2000 mm of rain.

However, the month of August wasn't the best and failed to see very good rains with the month ending on a below-normal note. September also started on a low with the city recording only 10 mm of rain in the first week.

The last 24 hours had a slight increase in rains with Santa Cruz recording 8 mm of rainfall. In fact, between 8:30 am and 2:30 pm today, Mumbai has recorded 36 mm of rains. Now, for the next 3-4 days, Mumbai is expected to see light to moderate showers with isolated heavy spells of rains.

These rains are attributed to the weakened low pressure area which is now lying as a Circulation over Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Chhattisgarh. A convergence zone has formed and also, the Monsoon surge along the West Coast is activated.

Thus, we do expect showers to continue giving relief to residents from sultry weather conditions. Expect temperatures also to witness a slight drop. However, we do not expect very heavy rains which may cause any kind of distrurbance.
